Another T-Sirt refashion

the little Lisa, a friend's daughter had a birthday last week. Most of my friends are very excited about all the T-shirt refashion and have been requesting that I make some for them. Lisa got a small present that she wished for and two t-shirts and a monster plushly with function.

Lisa loves monsters, so a monster shirt was a must. This one is made with the freezer paper and fabric paint technique. I will show you below how to do it.

Front with 3D paint and some flitter.

 Back with glitter paint

The second T-Shirt is made using the iron- on flocked foil from Silhouette with an exchangeable flower. Will explain to you below how to make this one.

Because I never come empty- handed when there is a second child in the house, Lisa's sister Julia also got one.

Last but not least the cool Moster Plushy with function. His name is Brutus Wehus Tutus von bis and zur Auagone. He is stuffed with a removable "hot- and- cold pack pillow. i will be sharing a tutorial on the 10th of October on J&M Eyecyndy during their Scare Team series.

So let me show u how I made the moster shirt...

First I cut the stencil out of freezer paper. I used a design that I bought from Silhouette. I cut the design with my silhouette, but you can certainly use an exacto knife. Second, iron the stencil onto a pre- washed shirt of your choice.

Apply your paint with a sponge applicator and set to dry. I added some flitter into the still wet paint.

Iron according to the instructions to puff up and fix the paint.

I made another stencil for the back of the shirt with the text: " Monster number 7, Lisa" as Lisa turned 7. for this stencil I used glitter paint that was applied in the same manner as the one for the front.

For the second shirt(s) I used the flocked iron on material that I also cut with the silhouette. The design I drew up myself. Remember those? I had some of the flowers that I made weeks ago. I attached a sew on snap onto the shirt, made a ribbon covered hairpin to which I also attached a snap on button. One more button on the flower(s) and the "feine dame" (German) - fancy lady is finished.

The Retro Pillow Challenge

Oh how Retro! I was invited to join the Retro Pillow Challenge by Rikka and Karen. Thank you for the invite!

I went for a modern and playful interpretation of the retro. The following photos show how I developed the concept and went about creating the pillow. I was dying to try the reversed applique from Rikkas's Tutorial and this seemed to be the perfect project.
Voting starts in October, so be sure to check it out and vote for the design you like. This was fun and Tina loves her new owlie!

Made some matching buttons out of Fimo...

The back of the pillow looks like this

And the front...

Owlie was lonely, so she got a mini pillow to accompany her

Someone was happy...

By the way, please notice that I have finally finished my felt ball carpet. I like the overall composition in this corner of the room. What do u think?

T- Shirt refashion- Tutorial

I have not been blogging for a while. Lots to do and we have been sick all the time. Here is the promised T- Shirt Refashion tutorial.

First, the owl shirt. It was made with sparkly (glitter) and a 3d fabric paint. I use those from Marabu as I am very satisfied with the results and it washes very well.

You will need:

- t-shirt
- stencil
- stencil spray glue
- sponge applicator
- fabric paint

First position and glue your stencil onto the desired surface

The textile should be pre- washed and free of softener. Apply the fabric paint with a sponge and let dry. Remove the stencil, fix the paint by ironing according to the manufacturer's instructions and voila!

The next T- shirt was made using the flocked foil and a digital cutter. If u do not have a digital cutter, an exact o knife will do. Here the textiles should also be pre- washed and softener free. As a matter a fact, all the refashions here, although washable, should be washed without a softener.

I cut the design out and ironed it onto the t-shirt according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Added the text with a fabric paint liner, after it dried, I heat set it and was finished.

Some other designs that were cut from a smooth iron- on foil.

The little Julia loved this shirt so much that she did not want to take it off. Made me smile.

Felix also liked his dangerous shirt:)

Yet another one for the little Julia...

This shirt was made using some hot- set stones and the Ryher glue and flitter technique.
