Pimp my shirt!

I made those cool pats for Tina using this Ebook. I also made one for myself using this pattern.

 I think that the patterns are only in German, but one could sew the pants withouth having to understand the instructions.

I had some fabric left over and wanted to make something that would coordinate with the new pants. It is a bought t-shirt with a reversed applique and some silver foil.

This is how I did it:

You will need:

- piece of jersey fabric
- scrap of water soluble stabilizer
- textile transfer glue for rub off foil
- rub off foil
- sewing stuff

1. Put the glue onto the jersey fabric the way you want it. I made some wild lines at an angle to the stripes of the jersey. Place the rub off foil on top with the shiny side up. Then place some parchment paper over it and iron well. Pull the foil off.

Cool, right? I tested it- it is washable.

now draw a heart onto your stabilizer and draw horizontal lines through it. Turn the shirt inside out and place the prepared jersey fabric face down onto the left side of the front of the shirt. Put the pattern on top and pin.

Sew around the heart shape first, then sew the horizontal lines. Use a straight stitch and a jersey needle. After you are done sewing trim the excess fabric and stabilizer.

Turn the shirt to the right side and cut the t shirt fabric between the horizontal  lines. I liked the background so much that I have trimmed the front jersey back even more to expose the background.

 Wash out the stabilizer, let the shirt dry and enjoy!

My little one is growing so fast. This means, that we need new clothes each season. This time I wanted to be smart about it and took a look at all the clothes from last spring and summer to first check if something still fits and if I could recycle something.
The following project reminded me of this project here. What a great idea to recycle those shirts that are too short but still fit on top! The only difference in how I made this tunic is that I serged all the edges of the stripes from the old thirst. This is how I did it:

All of those tshirs and some other dresses do not fit anymore.

 I picked 3 shirts that would look nice together and cut about 10 cm under the armpits from the main tshirt and some strips from the other ones.

 Then I marked 1/4 on the top part and on the stips.  Because I wanted the serged edges to show, I pinned left sides together on the marked quaters. I serged the two layers together and pinned the next strip, serged it and so on until I got the lenght I wanted. I used a contrasting thread and like the way it came out. Then I stamped some words and butterflies with permanent ink onto one of the strips. The birdie was already on one of the shirts that I pimped for Tina last year. I recycled some dresses which I made into skirts. For this I was cutting and throwing away the sleeve part of the dress or blouse as shown below and have sewn some cuffs on the waist. The cuffs are made either out of old tshirts or yardage.

 here a few more that I recycled. In about 2 hours I was able to make 4 skirts and 2 dresses. Cool! those are things that we do not have to buy this year:-)

Here I was showing you my new Ebook with designs and instructions on how to print your own fabric and sew it into a cosmetic bag. It so nice to see that so many of you were excited about this idea and are making some of the bags achieving great results.

Nadine made some and I was so very happy that she was absolutely satisfied. Both, with the quality of the instructions and and the results and easiness of the project.

Hier habe ich Euch 3 Ebooks vorgestellt mit Designs und Anleitungen wie man mit dem Tintenstrahldrucker und speziell vorbereitetem Stoff (muss seperat gekauft / gemacht werden), selber Stoff bedrucken kann und daraus eine Kosmetiktasche nähen kann. Es war so toll zu erfahren, dass ich so viele mit diese Idee begeistern könnte.

Nadine hat ebenso ausprobiert und was mit der Qualität der Anleitungen und den Resultaten absolut zufrieden. Ich habe mich sehr gefreut ihren Bericht zu lesen.

Claudia did not have any fabric sheets on hand and made some using t-shirt transfer foil. Cool Idea! She was also happy about the results:-)

Claudia hatte keine Stoffbogen auf Lager und probierte mit T-Shirt Transferfolie. Die Resultate waren spitze. Gute Idee!

Something to celebrate! / Etwas zu feiern!

This week, a year ago Tatjana started to digitize some of my drawings into embroidery files. We managed to bring out 15 files in one year. Wow! To celebrate with you we prepared a freebie embroidery file of the birdie seen above, and I am hosting a tombola. 3 people who leave a comment here will each win a fabric sheet of 15 personalized labels designed by me, using some of the Doodle drawings. I'm gonna print me a cosmetic bag /Ich drucke mir mal eine Kosmetiktasche

My hubby looked at me as if I were crazy as he heard me say that. "What do you mean: you are going to print yourself a cosmetic bag?"- he replied with huge question marks in his face.

Well it is easy! You just need some InkJet printable fabric (2 sheets per cosmetic bag), some interfacing, zipper, some additional cotton fabric, a sewing machine and my new E-Book.

Mein Mann guckte mich komisch an als ich das sagte. "Wie meinst Du: Du druckst Dir eine Kosmetiktasche?" - er antwortete gezeichnet von großen Fragezeichen.


Es ist einfach! Ihr braucht nur 2 Seiten bedruckbaren Stoff für den InkJet Drucker, ein paar andere Näh- sachen und mein neues E-Book.

And the coolest thing about is, that in addition to all the graphic files that already have text, I have included a fully editable PDF blanko design so that you can add your own text. This way you can create the most unique gifts ever!
Note: sorry guys but this time I did the Ebook only in German and did not translate it. The reason is, that the last time I have spent hours translating the 20 pages of the Ebook, and only sold one in English. Please understand. If I receive enough requests, I will be most happy to translate.

Many people got really excited about the last Ebook and are not skeptical any more about printing on fabric with their InkJet printer. Just the opposite, they have realized the huge potential and possibilities using this method.
